THE SAN RAMON VALLEY
Located in the San Ramon Valley, the area where San Ramon now lies was once home to the Seunen Indians. The first American settlers arrived in 1850; many areas in the city still bear the names of these earliest settlers and landowners. The area was known by several names, including Brevensville, Lynchville, and Limerick, before it was finally named San Ramon in 1873.
The city of San Ramon was incorporated in 1983 and today, it is home to the headquarters of many major businesses, including Chevron Corporation and 24-Hour Fitness. San Ramon is known for its Mediterranean climate, making it the perfect place for numerous festivals and outdoor activities, including the annual Art and Wind Festival every Memorial Day weekend.
